LOVE BUZZ - #739

giovanni solorio
I got it at "singles going steady" in seattle on december 5, 1998.

the 'warped love buzz' story:
i was trying to take pictures of my love buzz outside in the backyard. our phone started ringing inside the house. normally i would have just let the answering machine get it, however i was expecting a very important phone call. being that it was going to be a short conversation, i didn't think to grab my love buzz out of the sunlight. i went inside to answer the phone, but it was not the call that i was expecting though it was someone that i hadn't spoken with in a long time. after several minutes on the phone, i realized that i was going to be late picking-up the kids from school. we hung up and completely forgetting about my outdoor love buzz photo shoot, i left for
their school. instead of coming straight home after school, like we normally did, we had to go to the library for research material and then to the craft
store for supplies for an elaborate diorama.
understanding the importance of their education, yet a little frustrated that i had probably missed my phone call we eventually made it back home. settling in, we started preparing for the diorama. for some reason, i had to get something from my bedroom. upon entering my room i noticed, resting totally uncomfortable, my love buzz sleeve on our bed. knowing that this was an unusual sight, immediately my heart started pounding.
what was i thinking leaving this out! then within a split second i realized what i was last doing with my love buzz. i dashed through the house like a freight train towards the door to the back yard. luckily, no one was in my way as they most likely would have suffered some sort of major injury. as stumbled my way towards my mini outdoor studio thinking the worst thoughts about the sun's effects on vinyl. there on its generic display table, completely submersed in sunlight, impatiently awaiting my quick return, my newly reshaped love buzz.

conclusion:
when the nirvanavinyl yahoo! club(later became nirvanavinyl yahoo! group) was trying to decide on a specific record to use as the main page's photo, i suggested that someone should manipulate a photo of a really rare or hard to get record so that it appeared as if it was warped(one of the worst things that could happen to a record; next to being scratched or broken). after awhile nothing really came of a specific record as the club's main page photo. at some time i thought about pretending that i had left my love buzz out in the sun. i would post this story as post number 739, the same as my love buzz's number. as the club's posts total got closer to my number i forgot to watch for post 739 and then post my story. eventually i posted it a few numbers after 739.
shortly afterwards a few members expressed their sorrow for my mishap. their concern was really unexpected. i thought that many would post comments about me being so stupid for taking a record out into the sun, yet no one did. seeing that no one was rude about what i had posted, i felt that i should come clean. i posted a message re-directing everyone to the earlier post about manipulating a photo to show a warped record. then i posted what i had done to create my warped love buzz (i bought a 25 cent record, made a really good copy of my love buzz label, cut it out and then glued the label onto the record, and then put the record into the oven for a few minutes). i included a photo of the real flat love buzz next to the fake warped record. sometime later, the photo of the fake warped record was used for the main page photo.
everytime i went to the nirvanavinyl club, i was reminded of how it all happened. :) it was still there as the main page photo when yahoo! changed all clubs into groups. now the group no longer exists.

thanks enrico for keeping the 'warped love buzz' story alive.
